Home/About Faas

We built Faas for owners who never wanted to learn accounting.

Running a business is hard enough. Faas exists so that knowing where your money stands is not one more thing to figure out alone.

Most owners do not understand accounting, and that is not their fault.

The words are strange, the screens are built for accountants, and nobody has time to learn debits and credits between customers. So the books wait in a shoebox until someone else has time for them.

The problem

Owners are asked to run on numbers they cannot read.

Many owners keep their records in a mix of receipts, spreadsheets, bank apps and chat threads. They find out how the month went when the accountant sends a report, long after the chance to act on it has passed.

  • The books feel like a chore, so they are pushed to later
  • The words feel like a test, so owners stop asking questions
  • Problems show up at tax time instead of while they are small

What we believe

A few things we hold to.

Plain words first

If a term needs a glossary, we explain it in the place you meet it, with a small example and simple numbers.

One set of books for everyone

Owners and accountants should look at the same ledger, each in the way that suits them. Nobody has to email files back and forth.

Nothing hidden

Easy Mode hides complexity, it never hides the truth. Every number can be traced to the document it came from.

Honest about what is built

If a feature is still planned, we say planned. We would rather under-promise than send you a surprise.

Easy Mode and Full Mode

Two views of one ledger, on purpose.

We kept running into the same tension. Owners want five simple tabs. Accountants want a chart of accounts, journals and a trial balance. Instead of choosing one, we built both on a single ledger. Easy Mode is for the owner, Full Mode is for the accountant, and switching between them never changes the data.

  • Easy Mode: money in, money out, who owes you and what you owe
  • Full Mode: chart of accounts, journals, trial balance, period locking
  • The same books, so the owner and accountant agree on the numbers

How we work

We would like to earn your trust slowly.

Faas is early. We are not going to claim numbers or logos we do not have. What we can do is explain things clearly, build what we say we are building, and answer when you write to us.

  • Features are labelled planned until they are really there
  • Pricing is on the page, with no hidden extras
  • Real people read the messages sent through the contact page
