Features/Easy Mode and Full Mode

Accounting you can read, without learning accounting.

Easy Mode uses words you already use: money in, money out, who owes you. Underneath, Faas keeps proper double-entry books, so your accountant gets the real thing.

Easy Mode is on by default. Switch to Full Mode any time.

Accounting is not hard. The words are.

Debit, credit, ledger, reconciliation. Most owners never needed those words to run a good business, and they should not need them to keep good books. Easy Mode says it your way. Full Mode says it the accountant way. It is one set of books either way.

What changes when the screen speaks your language

A normal accounting app

  • "Post a journal to account 4000" means nothing to you
  • You are afraid to click in case you break the books
  • Every month you hand a shoebox of papers to someone who understands it
  • You only find out if you made money when the accountant calls

Easy Mode

  • "Customer paid you RM 1,200.00. Is this for INV-0042?" Tap Yes
  • Every action is a plain sentence, and Faas explains any new word
  • Receipts, invoices and the bank sit in five simple tabs
  • Profit is one number on the Home tab, any day of the month
Two views, one ledger

Easy for you. Complete for your accountant.

Faas keeps a single set of books. Easy Mode is a simple window onto it for the owner. Full Mode is the complete window for the accountant. Try the switch on the right and see the same business shown two ways.

  • Easy Mode: five tabs, no debits or credits, plain categories
  • Full Mode: chart of accounts, journals, trial balance, period locking, Audit Pack
  • Both read and write the same ledger, at the same time

The 5 tabs

Five tabs. That is all you learn.

Everything an owner does in a normal week fits in these five places, plus two shortcuts in the header.

Home

Your bank balance, money in, money out and profit. This month at a glance, plus a short list of things to review.

Sales

Invoices, quotations and credit notes in one place, with get-paid tools like reminders, WhatsApp sharing and repeating invoices.

Spending

Snap a receipt or supplier invoice. Faas asks one question: have you paid this yet? Paid becomes a receipt. Not yet becomes a bill to pay.

Money

Your bank balances and the friendly Yes or No matches. Owner money in and out lives here too.

Reports

Profit, who owes you, what you owe and tax set aside, plus a button to send everything to your accountant.

People and Settings

In the header. People holds your customers and suppliers. Settings holds the Easy and Full switch, the tax toggle, and Invite my accountant.

Learn as you go

Faas explains accounting words the moment you meet them.

You never have to stop and search the internet. Tap the small help icon next to any term and Faas gives you the plain-words meaning, with a small example. Nothing is dumbed down. It is just translated.

  • A plain-words line under every accounting term
  • Short examples with simple ringgit numbers
  • The same words appear in the Learn guides and the glossary

Easy Mode explains as you go
ReceivablesIn plain words: money customers still owe you.
PayablesIn plain words: money you still owe suppliers.
DrawingsIn plain words: money you took out of the business for yourself.
What you see vs what is posted

One tap for you. A balanced entry underneath.

Take a simple example. A customer, Aisyah Trading, pays RM 1,200.00 towards invoice INV-0042.

1

You see a sentence

Easy Mode shows: "Payment of RM 1,200.00 matches invoice INV-0042?" You tap Yes. That is all you do.

2

Faas picks the accounts

It knows the money landed in your bank and that the customer owes you less. You never choose an account code.

3

Faas posts a balanced entry

One line adds RM 1,200.00 to the bank. One line takes RM 1,200.00 off what Aisyah owes you. Both sides match, always.

4

Your accountant sees the detail

In Full Mode the same entry shows as a journal, traced back to the invoice and the bank line. Nothing was hidden or lost.

What you see

In Easy Mode, it is just good news.

The payment arrives, the invoice updates to Part paid, and the bank line is ticked off. There are no accounts to choose and no forms to fill in.

  • The invoice shows what is still due
  • The bank line is matched for you
  • The Home tab updates your money in and your profit

Matched

What is posted underneath

The same moment, as your accountant reads it.

Accountants write every event as a journal with a debit side and a credit side. The two sides must always be equal. Here is what Faas posted for the payment above.

  • Debit: Bank, main account, RM 1,200.00. The bank has more money.
  • Credit: Trade receivables, RM 1,200.00. The customer owes less.
  • Total debits equal total credits. If they ever did not, Faas would refuse to post.

Accounting in plain words

Six accounting words, in plain words.

You do not need these to use Easy Mode. They are here because knowing them makes the numbers less scary.

The term

Double-entry

The method behind almost every set of company books.

Plain wordsEvery money event is written down twice: where the money came from and where it went. The two always match.
You buy supplies for RM 200.00 cash. Cash goes down RM 200.00 and Supplies goes up RM 200.00.
The term

Debit and credit

The two sides of a double-entry line.

Plain wordsJust left side and right side. They are not "good" or "bad". Which side means up or down depends on the type of account.
Money into your bank is a debit to Bank. A sale is a credit to Sales.
The term

Chart of accounts

The list of every bucket money can be put in.

Plain wordsThe labelled boxes you sort money into, like Sales, Rent and Supplies. Easy Mode shows plain names. Full Mode also shows the codes.
Code 4000 is just a number for the box named Sales.
The term

Journal entry

One recorded money event.

Plain wordsA single line in the diary of your business: date, what happened and the accounts touched.
12 Oct: customer paid RM 1,200.00, Bank up, Receivables down.
The term

Ledger

All your journals, sorted by account.

Plain wordsThe complete diary of the business. Every report is just a different way of reading it.
The Bank page of the ledger lists every ringgit that went in or out of the bank.
The term

Reconciliation

Checking your books against the bank.

Plain wordsMaking sure what you wrote down matches what the bank says. In Easy Mode it is just Yes or No taps.
Your books say RM 31,200.00 in the bank, and the statement says the same. They match.

Easy Mode, Full Mode and what stays hidden.

Nothing is removed. Easy Mode just keeps the advanced parts out of your way until you need them.

Switching never changes your data.

Easy Mode and Full Mode are two windows onto one ledger. Flip the switch and nothing is converted, copied or recalculated. What your accountant posts in Full Mode shows up in Easy Mode as plain sentences, and the other way round.

  • No import, no export, no second copy of anything
  • Your accountant can work while you use Easy Mode
  • Tax features stay hidden until you switch on "tax registered", and they stay out of the way until then

Questions about Easy Mode

Do I have to use Easy Mode?
No. It is the default for owners, but you can switch to Full Mode in Settings whenever you like. Many accountants work in Full Mode while the owner stays in Easy Mode on the same books.
Is Easy Mode a cut-down version with fewer features?
No. It is the same ledger with a simpler window. Faas posts full double-entry records underneath every action, so nothing is missing when your accountant looks.
What if I make a mistake in Easy Mode?
You can edit or delete drafts and open items just like normal. Once a period is locked, corrections are made with a dated reversing journal so the history stays clean. See the audit-ready page.
Will I ever see a debit or a credit?
Not in Easy Mode. If you are curious, you can open Full Mode or read the plain-words guides in Learn. Faas explains the term the first time you meet it.
Where do products and stock go?
They are hidden in Easy Mode, because a service business does not need them. Items you sell still appear inside your invoices. Full Mode shows the full product and stock screens.
Can my accountant see everything I do?
Yes, if you invite them. They see the same books in Full Mode, with every entry traced to its source, so there is nothing to export or email back.
